Comfrey is typically used as a topical herbal remedy for painful muscle and joint conditions, such as low back pain, osteoarthritis, sprains and bruises.
Menthol is used to treat minor aches and pains of the muscles and joints. Often used for pain from arthritis, backache and sprains. It works by causing the skin to feel cool and then warm.

This is my mother's recipe she makes for the swelling of her knuckles due to arthritis in her hands. She does not like to use oral pain medications and found this combo to be the best she has tried. of course, results vary from person to person. However, I do not think there is a better pain salve on the market.
